Types of Plans

You may not be sure if you need an ERP or what kinds you need or how to go about getting it done.
Every jurisdiction’s regulations are unique for each situation, with their own rules and exceptions—far too many to make you read through to try to find your own answers. But the answers are only an e-mail or phone call away. Just get in touch with us and we’ll apply our expertise to your specific case to help you determine which ERPs you need from the list below:
-
Corporate Plans and Field Handbooks – our corporate ERPs are used for non-site-specific and sweet situations. They’re designed to fit into your corporate safety program. We also provide field handbooks, which include some excerpts from corporate plans for field staff. They tend to be more general but do have specific contact numbers and forms that are particularly useful in emergencies.
Our typical corporate plan includes a lot of information within these kinds of sections (which are of course customizable for each client and situation): an introduction, emergency definitions, command centres, emergency action plan and team duties, public/worker and environment safety, communications, emergency contact numbers, general info, and forms.
-
Site-Specific Plans – these include drilling and completion (D&C) plans and workover plans, which expire a year from their date of approval (although you can resubmit or request an extension). So they have a limited shelf life, cover a very precise and smaller area, and come with a specific set of rules.
Our typical site-specific D&C ERP has these types of sections, again customizable as appropriate: an introduction, definitions and procedures, duties and responsibilities, zone isolation and monitoring, evacuation, communication, government responsibilities, ignition, additional info, and resident surveys.
-
Facility Plans – these are for facilities and pipelines/pipeline tie-ins. We call them area plans because of the large area they have to cover. They are very similar to site-specific plans but are for much more land and people, and are ongoing, rather than finite.
What We’ll Need to Know
When you contact us, we know what info we’ll need from you and we’ll walk you through it. But if you’d like to prepare a bit before you call, these are the types of questions we’ll be asking you:
- who would be involved in an emergency (“who’s who in the zoo”),
- what resources you have available, and
- whether you need a plan done from scratch or a revision.
To find out if you’d need a site-specific ERP, we would get information from you as shown in the folowing flowchart.
