Types of Training
Training is part of emergency preparedness and helps get people ready to implement an ERP in a real emergency. It is one of the ways we can introduce an ERP into your workplace.
EX/PX offers four types of emergency response training:
- Corporate Emergency Response Courses – full or half day courses
covering head-office emergency support such as basic incident command training,
emergency operations centre set-up and operation, emergency roles, regulatory
requirements, and post-incident procedures.
- Emergency Response Training Sessions – half day sessions covering field-based
emergency roles and responsibilities, emergency procedures, team organization,
communications, and regulatory requirements; a helpful prerequisite for a subsequent
tabletop exercise or major exercise.
- Tabletop Exercises – half day tabletop (as opposed to on-the-ground) exercises covering appropriate field and head-office response in a realistic emergency scenario. EX/PX facilitators develop the scenario to the scope and complexity you require, prepare materials, facilitate the exercise, conduct a debriefing, and discuss post-exercise reporting. The ERCB and BC OGC both require a minimum of one tabletop exercise per year for sour facilities.
- Major Exercises – full day on-the-ground exercises covering appropriate field and head-office response in a realistic emergency scenario. These exercises are run like the tabletop ones except that teams are actually deployed to the response area, onsite responders and public safety teams carry out their designated duties, and the incident command centre is fully activated. The ERCB and BC OGC both require a minimum of one major exercise every three years for sour facilities.
Arranging Training
Just as each emergency is unique, so is each company. EX/PX works with you to customize our four training options above to meet your specific requirements. Contact Rick or Brenda to discuss your training needs.
