Community Meetings
When requested by clients, EX/PX staff can attend their energy facility-related community meetings as a support, to provide information as needed on the ERP process we provide. Community meetings can be initiated by the company or by residents themselves and usually go like this: the company has a short presentation or two and they take questions at the end.
These meetings offer a chance for learning and open communication between
the company and the people that may be affected by their work. Typical questions
include those about what happens in an emergency and what kind of future proliferation
(e.g. pipelines) can be expected. EX/PX can give demonstrations of our procedures
to interested community members or provide a whole presentation on how we create
the ERP.
Hearings
Unlike community meetings, hearings are an arbitration based on an adversarial process. The company representatives make their presentations and so do the interveners’ representatives. The regulatory board (e.g. ERCB) provides a panel to make a ruling on the evidence and arguments presented.
EX/PX can attend regulatory body hearings, again in a supportive role, providing facts and answering questions related to the ERP process we supply to our client.
